Pancakes With Santa

POSTED: JANUARY 2012

The YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester hosted “Pancakes with Santa” on December 17, 2011 in its Lower Lounge. Over 150 children and their parents celebrated the holidays with the jolly old Saint Nickolas, who greeted young and old alike in his red suit and whiskers.

The event was hosted by the YWCA Children’s Learning Center After School Program, where the friendly staff served the guests pancakes with a choice of milk, juice and yogurt. Each child received a hand written letter by Santa, acknowledging their good behavior and achievements throughout the year.

While Holiday music filled the air, children decorated cookies, colored pages, wrote their last minute letters to Santa Clause. Each child left with a gingerbread house gift box.

On December 15, 2011, the After School Program also hosted “Around the World Musical Holiday Program”. The buffet style gathering was dedicated to celebrating the holidays through different cultures. Tasty dishes featuring Kosher, Chinese, Italian, Spanish, and Jamaican specialties were served along with a green frosted “Grinch” cake. The holiday performance included “Santa Clause is Coming to Town” sang by our Kindergarten; first and second graders sang “Kwanzaa”, “Dreidle (I have a little dreidl) and performed the Hyper Buddle Dance; third grade sang “All I Want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth” and performed the Night Dance; and Forth and fifth grade performed “Rocking around the Christmas Tree”.
