“Dollars for Dedication” at LMK

POSTED: JANUARY 2012

LMK students and faculty raised $700 in a program entitled “Dollars for Dedication” and donated the proceeds to the local chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. October was Breast Cancer Awareness month and the 6th, 7th and 8th grade student councils organized a unique fundraiser.

“Dollars For Dedication” encouraged students and faculty members to purchase pink bracelets for $1. With each purchase, donators wrote their names and/or the names of people to whom that they wanted to dedicate best wishes on a “ribbon” which were displayed in the front lobby or near the front office.

As part of the LMK Wellness Week Kickoff, students from the 7th and 8th grade presented Darrin Goldin, a representative of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, with a check for $700. He thanked the LMK community for their generous donation and encouraged the students to stay involved with any cause that is near to their hearts. He emphasized that even the youngest members of society can make a difference.
